THE STORY BEHIND OUR WEDDING BARN IN EAST JORDAN

The Jordan Valley Barn has a story rooted in history, love, and restoration. Built in 1887 by sea captain Oscar Blair, the barn and its guesthouse were more than a simple farmstead—they were a showcase of craftsmanship and a beloved landmark in East Jordan, Michigan. What began as a dairy farm later grew into a thriving vegetable farm, supplying fresh produce to northern Michigan and earning its place in local history.


When the Scheer family purchased the 13 acre property in 2012, the once beautiful estate had fallen into disrepair. It was just another barn in East Jordan. The house was considered beyond saving, and although the barn remained structurally sound thanks to its old world construction, it needed extensive restoration. Yet the Scheers saw what others could not: potential. Beneath layers of paint, linoleum, and carpet, they uncovered original hardwood floors. Behind worn wallpaper and aging walls, they found hand hewn beams and solid craftsmanship—a reminder of the care poured into the property more than a century ago.


Instead of demolishing the home, the Scheers chose to restore it. They rebuilt the collapsed roof, repaired the barn, and revived every detail with intention and heart. The once rustic barn was transformed into a stunning wedding and event venue, complete with chandeliers, string lighting, rustic fixtures, and the warm glow of lanterns that create an unforgettable atmosphere for couples seeking a romantic barn wedding reception venue in East Jordan.

Upper Level -  The upper floor features four well‑appointed suites; two with a shared bathroom and two with private bathrooms. Two master suites offer breathtaking views of the ceremony site and the picturesque Jordan Valley—an unforgettable backdrop for your stay.

Main Level -  The main level is designed for gathering, relaxing, and preparing for your big day. It includes:
